Yup. I mean, not being there in person, there could be other reasons, but I'd lay dimes to donuts that's why they're dead. Too much fertilizer will literally "burn" them chemically and kill them much quicker than not fertilizing them at all will.
P.S.-- alliegator is right... your aunt was very sweet to try and help you, if that's what she was doing. Next time you plant and are talking about how beautiful your garden is, you might comment on the fact you fertilized them, too. Something like "yeah, I don't know what happened last time but we just got done putting in the new plants, and this time we decided to fertilize them just to make sure... it was a lot of work, but they're in, they're fed and watered, and the flower beds look great!" It could head off your aunt's efforts without any unkind words being said. =)

Yes, that would be why. You have to mix it with water and pour it near the roots, not directly on the plant. She actually blistered your plants with the mixture. Sorry!

Yup. Too much fertilizer can burn a plant too death. Thank her for her concern, but tell her in future you would like to do the fertilizing coz you do it on a schedule.

you can pretty much bet that's why they are dead
how long has she been doing this, We use a stronger ingredient than miracle gro and our weeds don't die overnight

She definitely committed murder. You will need to dilute your soil of that chemical before replanting. Aliitle may be good if you want to use chemicals, but a lot is murder.

lol I did that before and about killed my plant I moved it to a bigger pot and its all right.But being yours are outside the roots should have plenty of room to grow.
