Their new album did debut at #1 but with a third fewer sales than their last album in its first week. Their tour has been postponed or outright canceled in many of the markets they count on and those that are selling are averaging 5,000 to 6,000 tickets instead of the usual 15,000.

Is this, along with Julia Roberts sudden complete absense of a command of the box office, proof that celebrities should keep their asinine political opinions to themselves?

It could just be that their new album sucks, I wouldn't listen to it so I wouldn't know. I've heard Dixie Chick stuff ... the music isn't bad if you like country but the voice on that fat Dixie Chick is worse than two cats fighting.

No, Tom Cruise is proof that entertainers should just shut up.

You tried this question before and you were punked, why again? In a few target pro-Bush cities, they didn't get the ticket sales they hoped for. In other cities that don't normally have a country music market, they're selling out. Figure that one out. Actually it's further down in the article if you can read print and not just piece together the words in the headlines.

Nothing personal against them, I love their politics, I'm just not really a country fan...worth my $12? Not really. The album makes a great gift though for that special someone :)

I believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and because of the great nation we live in you should be able to express exactly how you feel. It is up to the artists entertainers to express how they feel, and I believe they should be able to. However, they also need to realize that their feelings towards an issue and/or president is going to be seen and scrutinized alot more than say someone who isn't on a national stage. I believe that entertainers can say what they like, it's part of what our country is built on, but they need to be ready to pay the consequences when the time comes, and not complain about it.

Everyone has the right to say what they want, and the Dixie Chicks are calling it as they see it. I don't particularly enjoy country music but I will be buying their latest CD as a show of support for free speech, won't you join me?, come on and join me, forget about that right-wing nut Ted Nugent :)

I agree. These entertainers think that since they have a following that they now must open their mouth on political beliefs. I guess they think they are the new Pres. R. Reagan!

Another indication that the loud mouth celebrities DO NOT represent the masses like they think they do.

They can say what they want, but should have to pay the price if the public sees fit.
