If you have a Wal-Mart or a Dollar General area, you can buy a product called "Greased Lightning". I understand exactly what kind of stains you are talking about.
This stuff is super cheap, two or three dollars, and it's miraculous. Just spray it on and let it sit for about ten minutes, then bam...it will just wipe off. No scrubbing.
I use it on my glass top stove, and recently purchased an RV that had a DISGUSTING oven. There was crud baked on, or actually looked as though it had melted into the bottom. I scrubbed, scrubbed, used oven cleaner, even tried prying it off with a tool. Then found the Greased Lightning...sprayed it on HEAVY...let it sit for a few minutes. I figured it wouldn't touch it....and OMG it just wiped off.
Hope this helps. I know it works for me. I use it for when there is over spills on the stove top that get cooked and baked on. Sometimes burnt on, on the stove stop...this stuff takes it away.

I use Clorox Clean-Up Spray. Spray it on, let it sit for a few minutes and the stuff will just wipe away. Or if that doean't work the cleaner aisle at Home Depot has some industrial strength stove-top cleaner then looser with a soft scrubber brush (same aisle). Hopefully that should do the trick

Go to Walmart or equivalent and they sell in the cleaning section where you would find oven cleaner, stuff specifically made for the stovetops. It is a little expensive, but it works safely without scratching it. Some appliance stores also sell it.

Go to your local hardware/appliance store and ask. There is a cream that works great with a nylon scrubber, just can't remember the name.
Also, check the manual for cleaning suggestions.

Use a paste of baking soda and lemon joy. Let it sit a little while and then scrub. It works great for me.
