I was wondering what age would be good to start playing tennis if you want to go pro.

I feel I'm well-qualified to answer this question because I'm a nationally certified tennis instructor and have taught tennis for many years to people of all ages.

Although group tennis lessons at some tennis clubs can begin at age 4, they amount to little more than babysitting. Children at this young age have neither the physical coordination nor mental concentration to learn a skill as physically and mentally challenging as tennis.

A good age to begin tennis lessons is 8 years old, and perhaps at age 7 if the child is particularly coordinated and gifted.
