The best way to travel from Zagreb to Opatija is by bus. It is direct and quick..

(There are no direct trains. You must travel via ljubljana (Slovenia))

The main bus station in Zagreb is about a 10 minute walk from the train station and very easy to find!

There are about 8 buses a day depending on the day you want to travel... The first bus leaves at about 6am and the last at about midnight...
The journey takes three hours and a half and costs between 11 and 17 euros one way depending on the bus company you use. There are some discounts for students, children, the elderly, and return tickets.

Here are the times....

6:15,7:30 ,8:00 ,11:30, 13:30 ,15:00 ,23:30 ,00:00

The bus station is modern and large . There is no need to book a ticket..and there are people in the bus station who speak English.
