When I first saw Yahoo answers I thought it was pretty awesome. But really I think it does more harm then help to the younger crowd. After seeing questions like:
"How do a women give birth?"
and
"When is the write time to do sex?"
It makes me wonder if these kids should really be educated from a crowd like random internet junkies.

Perhaps I shouldnt have used the term "stupid people" I have seen alot of serious question and answers on the site so far it just bothers me that some little girl is going to ask about sex or somthing, and some random internet person is going to give some weird answer. I guess its just the dangers of the internet, the only real way to have a system like this work is if its a private run website with moderation and a few people who actually care to answer people questions to the best of their ability.

Such is the failings of an unmoderated system. I too have been very disappointed with the (few) answers I have received to the serious questions I have posed.
Hopefully Yahoo will implement a system that allows members to rate members based on the questions they ask and the answers they give. Yahoo has already given special recognition to some top answerers, and hopefully they will create a system that recognizes people in terms of the quality of their contributions rather than just the quantity.

LOL.....You have to remember a lot of the questions on here are crap and people are just playing around. But, I have found some of the questions to be very real and it does feel good to be able to help someone out who actually does need the help. As far as the kids questions on here....it just goes to show you that parents are not talking to their kids if they are coming here and asking for "random internet junkies" to give them answers. Parents always seem to be too busy now days to sit down with their kids and talk to them and answer these simple questions. No, it's not my job to educate someone elses kids but someone needs to be around to answer their serious questions....and if it's not their parents or family...then what is wrong with and internet junkie like me answering it?

i agree that some questions/answers are just plain stupid
but some of the questions deserve an answer
and do in fact help people
i think that "kids" should ask the people around them for answers first
and if they don't receive a satisfying answer, then they should go to the internet
like my mom always says
"I don't know. Look it up on the internet. Everything is on the internet."

You have a point. Sometimes I read things and I just know they are kids saying this stuff b/c any one with maturity wouldn't ask such a question. But sometimes you find people in here who are really looking for help and don't really have any one to ask. It gives you a nice feeling when you answer their problem and they choose your answer as their favorite that means they really hear what you said and just maybe you made their day better!

I think it shows the pathetic and sorry state of the education system in this country. A quick five minute read of random questions and answers here, and its enough to make you emigrate. Not sure where would be better, UK perhaps.

Better the internet junkies than those that are currently educating them; look at the horrible verbage in what resembles a sentence.

And that's where parenting comes in. My computer is in the dining room, and my children are only allowed to use it with supervision. These kids should be educated by school and parents. You hit the nail on the head.

i'd like them to bypass back to their previous gadget of those with the flexibility to price the questions. yet yeah, it will be impressive to have both a fabulous answer and a worst answer. i have spoke of that typically the asker will pick what they provide theory to to be a nasty answer because the great answer as a fashion to inform the fellow off one very last time. at the same time as they attempt this, then a sturdy answer would not get chosen. So it will be a service to get to chosen both sorts of solutions.

That's a good observation...But asking a question on that topic isn't going to change the fact that it happens...I'm kind of tired of people making these observation but doing nothing about them...It's good to address the problem yes but if you cared that much about it you would make a bigger effort to change it.

I agree with you, oh and why doesn't anyone know how to spell "lose"?
Ive seen the ever popular, "how do I loose weight"
why don't some of you people try to go to school instead of sitting at your computer all day long!
