Fin Rot....check the ph of the water in his tank and make sure it is close to the water needs that they have. You may need to get a softner or a slime fix depending on what kind of fish you have.
Poor fishy.....i wish ppl would learn how to take care of things before they buy them......or before they get sick and die.

Like the others said it sounds like fin rot/fish eating each other's fins :). If it's fin rot (you can normally tell if it has a white "fluffy/slimey coating around the missing fins) change about 2 to 3 quarters of your water and then add some melafix to the tank, this can be found in your local pet shop. If it's your other fish bighting your original fish (no fluffy stuff) then seperate them :D good luck.

Two words. Fin rot. It could be the chlorine or pH level in the water. Buy some stress and water conditioner. After that, just wait to see what happens. If the fins do not grow back to their original luster, thats normal. If the fins don't grow back at all, consult a vet.

Its either got a disease or the other fish are eating its fins. WHat to do? Wait for it to die. Sad answer, but fish are to fragile to fix after they start to get sick. IF its a very expensive fish, call youre aquarium person (find a specialist in the yellow pages) QUICK. Or it will die.

Excuse me but BULL&%^&! If your fish has fin or tail rot go to the pet store get some pimafix and some maracyn 2. Give it to him and he will have a new tail in a week! People get pets and wait for it to die! All I can say is I hope they never have children. Dont get pets if you wont take care of them.

if they went slowly, fin and/or tail rot. if it all went within 24 hours, another fish [if you have another] might have been hungry and ate it. one of my fish [the baby tuna sized one] lost a whole fin. he can't swim very good now, but hes healthy. try marcyn by mardel to cure.

Beacase when he was playing poker while you were sleeping, he could not pay the 10 fish flakes he had bet and lost... The other fish sent out mikey who took care of things for his boss. You must pay if you bet!!!! that is the moral of your fishes story
