Yes some hotels require you to have a debit or credit card to even make a reservation.

The ones that take credit cards can, yes.
There is no difference in the way the hotel would handle a Visa-branded debit card (checkcard) and a Visa credit card.

Yes, I do this all the time. The Visa logo means that it could be used as a credit card as well.

yes they do but they sometimes put a hold on your card for like 150 bucks or something liek that, you have to ask them
