Nike Exxelerator, great shoe, hard to find, classic gray blue color in women's, good support, great wearing. The reason they changed the mesh and the stitching, so they wouldn't be forgotten, oh, then they decided to change the name to compete with other shoe companies monikers, bought a pair every year for three years straight then they disappeared. Haven't owned a pair of Nike's since

Kinda a "duh" question! Sneakers are now 80% fashion statement, and only 20% sports shoe. Nike (to name the biggest 'culprit') has found that sales continue to go up each time they introduce a new shoe. This is especially true in the urban, black, youth market, where the shoe you wear is the most important fashion statement you can make, short of your gang colors (if a member). By bringing out new shoes, with highly dubious new technology, they can continue to drive sales with their aggressive marketing.
Did you know there are even Nike shoe collectors out there, one of which has over 200 pairs of pristine, never worn Nike shoes? Not to mention other company's products. Even the movie, "I Robot" featured the main character's "vintage" shoes, very prominently.

The shoe may be fine but the the company updates their technology and places the shoe back on the market. I have the newest addition of the Brooks and now they have more stability.

I think it is because other companies are coming out with new shoes all the time to keep up in the competition they need to update and what is better for sales than the word "NEW"

updated allows them to market it better, you may need to try several different styles to find one that works best for you, that helps to generate sales, but in the USA athletic shoes are worn for more than athletic events. They are fashion accessories. I wore one particular type of shoe for years, I bought several extra pairs, but now i am shopping for a replacement and have bought a 1/2 dozen pairs trying to find one that was as comfortable. They definitely are getting the money from me.

Because they are good for YOU, and they were probably not selling fast enough. Despite awards, etc. marketing appeals are constantly changing and keeping abreast if not ahead of others. Have you asked Reebok your question?

I agree it is about the money and the words "New" and "Improved" do sell to most people.
