People that think for themselves, and don't blindly follow the platform positions of ANY political party are "best." While much of one's thoughts may line up with a particular party, it's not very likely that any one party will agree with everything a particular individual cares about...

More people who actually think about their stands on issues and less sheep following the herd would be a good thing for America!

The best party would be one that uses common sense; but that's not part of politics, it's all jumping through the right hoops to get the most power and perks.
Traditionally the Republican party stands for conservative values and a smaller government. They certainly have held on to the conservative values via Christian conservative dogma. As for the stance of smaller or less government involvement, that has certainly changed with the Bush administration, creating all kinds of new bureacracy and increasing the push for laws that monitor and regulate everyday life for people. The plus is that they definitely have the hard line on the war on terrorism.

The Democratic party traditionally stands for more government programs to help those in need, their views are more progressive. The problem with the Democrats right now is that along the spectrum of their party from moderate liberals to extremists there are many different stances on issues, which clouds the line of what the party as a whole agrees on. They are again gaining steam; although probably not due to their senior leadership, but because of all the recent scandal within the Republican ranks.
I personally am registered independent, but lean towards predominantly Democratic philosphies on the many issues, but I do agree with alot of moderate Republicans. I don't agree with the takeover of the Republican party by the Christian consveratives. In my eyes, religion and government shouldn't be bedfellows, religion was mentioned and played a part in the formation of our government and Constitution, but strictly as a moral compass. The way some people want it is just like the Taliban in Aghanistan was, ruled be ultraconservative views, their constitution was the Koran.
I could go on and on, but I probably already aggravated plenty of people so I'll stop. I ultimately recommend assessing your personal views of the many issues and ideas of what role government should have in peoples lives, then research the different politicians and decide on the issues, not the party.

For party unity, I would go with the Republicans. They run a very efficient system. They have their ideals and most members stick with it.

For corruption, morals, and all other things important, I would go green. The green party has never had enough members in office to be corrupted. They truly support helping the lower classes live. They care about the earth and support keeping a planet for our children to be able to live on.

But for viability, I would go democratic. They actually win elections sometimes (just don't look at this past decade). They seem to be less corrupt than the republicans (Representative Jefferson a notable exception). They do champion issues for the lower classes. They are not efficient, but diverse.

So essentially, an enlightened despot would be best.

I think a Democrat in office is better than a Republican, when there is a Republican in office the economy goes down hill, and there are less jobs, when there is a Democrat in office, the economy is great and their are more jobs for people to have.

To keep it laconic and simple-both parties have let me down. Actions speak louder than words. Don't judge by the party affiliation, judge by the individual and what they stand for.

Ironically enough, probably the most ignored party (other) has the best solutions.

Republicans; who believe in conservative values, capitalism over socialism, less government instead of more, and personal responsibility instead of societel responsibility.
