Several things must happen.
1) Dusty Baker must be fired. He is the worse manager in MLB. He abuses his pitchers by having them pitch too many pitches in games.
2) They need to draft much better. This year they took a guy in the first round that no other team would have taken until round 3. Then in round 5 they drafted a football player who is going back to play football for Notre Dame. Do I hear blown-out knee?
3) They need to stop spending money on players like Scott Eyre. No offense to Eyre, he is a pretty good set-up man, but they paid way too much for him. Players like Eyre are easily replaced.
4) They need to get that Prior and Wood will probably never help them win. Develop alternatives to them. And if by some miracle they come through, even better.
BTW, Ronny Cedeno isn't the problem in Chicago. Neifi, Tony Womack, Jacque Jones, Juan Pierre are far bigger problems.

In 2004, in response to a request for predictions for 2008 put out by the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, I predicted that the Seattle Mariners would lose the 2008 World Series to the Cubs in six games, whereupon Ichiro Suzuki would declare free agency and jump to the Yankees.

Not until the Tribune Corporation sells the Cubs, hopefully to Mark Cuban! (dynamic owner of the Dallas Mavericks)

well if you're truly a die-hard cubs fan you would already know that you will die hard and long in your cold cold grave before the cubs win it.
I approximate that it will be a day before the end of the world.

According to a short story by W.P. Kinsella, who wrote "Shoeless Joe," which "Field of Dreams" is based on, the Cubs will win the last pennant before Armageddon. Let's hope they don't win it any time soon if W.P. is accurate.

The Cubs will never win because they have a losing mentality. Dusty Baker has caught it now. Can't you tell?

Not until they get a new owner actually willing to bring in the right people. With the current staff they will never win one.
