Actually, we spent a great deal of time in elementary school working on spelling - we had a primer and every week would learn 20 words. I sense that many schools today do not devote that much attention to spelling; it seems that effectively communicating understanding (even if done so with horrible grammar, mechanics, and spelling) is the ascendant goal of the moment in education.

well were adults and in some fields spelling is important, but on here i think if the spelling is close and i can understand what idea is then whats the big deal. i have poor grammar but im more concerned wit getting the point across not concern about I before E accept after C
