There are a lot of cool, huge mansions to visit... if you're into that stuff... There is a brewery near there "Newports Storm" brewery... that might be worth checking out... again if you are in to that kinda stuff...

Eat seafood, visit the mansions, go to The Newport Playhouse where you can have dinner then a show. Drive along the coast,
see all the shops on the wharf, go to beach, eat fried clams,
Go to Black Pearl for clam chowder,
See the tennis hall of fame...

Tour the mansions,get tattooed,tour Hammersmith farm ( Jackie Kennedy homestead) visit the wharf area, many exquisite deli shops, restaurants, swimming, national park seashore, just some of the things available.....

The waterfront section is surprising - super to purely walk around, seem at boats, dine al fresco, pass out to bars, etc.! The mansions are cool too. there is this component called the cliff walk it is nice. There are seashores interior the section as properly.
