We all smile, but the same word (or action in this case) can often very have a different meaning from culture to culture, even person to person... Like language, spoken, written or body, it is often the subtlities that define the true translation.

It is always a good place to start though and you probably won't get slapped or insulted the way you might if you use the good old American hand sign for "Okay" (thumb & forefinger making circle with fingers outstretched) in some other countries/cultures!

Sure, but in different countries and different cultures, smiles don't always mean the same thing. But yes, everyone smiles in every country despite the language differences.

Just because you smile does not always mean you are happy, so it depends on the individual you are smiling at to interpret the feeling of your smile. So I would say no not everyone smiles in the same langauge. But wouldn't it be nice if we all did!

A smile has absolutely nothing to do with language, it is a universal expression of happiness that crosses a linguistic boundaries and as such requires no translation.

not quite. yes all smile are nice, but they have differnet meanings sometime. theres the "I can not wait to castrate you in your sleep" smile that you get from a girlfriends father. yeah, its real... its not funny! theres also the "i love you smile", and the smile that you do while laughing. and the thing the other guy before me said about the monkeys...he has a point, sorry. it is a good question though.

No, they don't.

Smile at a tiger and get your face ripped off. They have a language, or do you think the communication is just random noises that are of no purpose. Showing teeth is a challange to any other animal on this earth but us.

In the inception of the concept maybe.

Smiles are misleading sometimes. What do you call smiles that are fake. People who hide behind smiles, while they are talking about somebody under their breath to their friends. People who smile at other people while thinking what a stupid idiot that person is.

Yes-they-do!
However, some are smiling for the wrong reasons.
This is such a good question I hesitated to say that, but it's true.
