Follow the instructions DAH if it was that simple they would probable already have the darn thing on the horse.
I have even had trouble figuring the sides from the top on some of the newer halters myself.
If this is a serious question...... the smaller opening/hole goes over/around the nose. The two straps will be fastened together behind the ears with the buckle lower on one side. Make it snug, but not tight. In an emergency you want to be able to get their head OUT of the halter. If this doesn't help just type in "horse pictures" and you will find several pictures of horses some of them will have halters on and you can see how it is supposed to look on the horse.
There wont be anything around the throat. (Like a bridle has the throat strap)

if you are having a hard time get a reguklar halter... much eaiser.
