If one is looking to fine tune one's drawing skills to the absolute razor's edge, few things can beat taking a still life/perspective drawing class at a community college followed up by as many life drawing classes as one can fit into their schedule. An alternative to this would be to alternate architectural drawings (buildings) and landscape studies with studies of horses. There's nothing quite like drawing a live animal which won't stay still to force an artist to be quick, economical, and eventually very accurate. If one can master the above subjects, there is no subject on earth - cool or otherwise - that one cannot draw.

Your hand. Complicated enough to make it challenging. Driftwood is another one. Get the book, "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain", it was a major breakthrough for me. I took a year of classes based on it and my drawing improved 100%

Draw how you feel. If you're having a good day, draw a collage of items that make you feel happy. If you're in love, draw a bunch of things that make you feel great, and how you feel about that special someone.

Faces are most challenging...and most rewarding. Try to draw yourself first before you find a cooperative 'victim'. Good luck.

I really enjoy drawing a soldier holding a flasg with a soldier holding a flag on his flag, whose flag has a soldier holding a flag, and on and on, until it is very tiny. The best way to do this is Microsoft Paint, and the "magnify" tool.
