Mainly because the quality of b vitamins on the market is inpure. Take Centrum, for instance. They are using Hydrochloric acid stablized thiamine and B6. This is done for stability and shelf-life and not for absorption. The B12 is produced synthetically as cyanocobalamin, which contains cynanide - not a biologically appropriate form. A good coenzymated b vitamin does not cause the urine to turn yellow. New Chapter's "Coenzymated B Complex" is an example.
