What do you think of these names we've picked out? Some of them are a little "out there" I guess, but we'd really like some opinions from someone other than family & friends. We really want a name that is also a place or city. Let us know what you think! Thanks & God Bless! :)

Girls-Ellis, Berlin, London, Augustine, & Sydney
Boys-Phoenix, Houston, Brooklyn, & Roman

We know Rome is a place and Roman isn't, but we like the name Roman better---thanks for the smart-butt remark though :)

Ellis and Roman

I would say Sydney for the girl. London is already sort of popular, Berlin is too masculine, and I think Augustine would get teased too much.

For a boy I say Roman. Brooklyn is already considered a girl's name, Houston and Phoenix are okay, but Roman feels more unique.

Phoenix bad name for any kid, houston sounds like a last name, brooklyn no its not working, roman is okay

berlin isnt working either, I think Augustine and Sydney sound okay, not Ellis that sounds like a last name how about Paris for a girl name

I think you should think about what will be important to your child as an adult. Using names like that just aren't good for the child. It's hard in school, They will never find anything with their name on it, and kids like to buy things with their names on it. Think about how silly all the names people gave their kids in the 60's sound today. Their name is about them, not you. Just think about their grand kids calling them, grandma London, or grandpa Roman.
and Augustine is a man's name, St. Augustine.
I'm not going to give my given names, but I have a very different first and second name, and it's been awful! People will always ask why are you named that? What were they thinking?
problems on filling out forms, writing your name and no one knows if it's a man or a women, place or thing. Don't do it to them.

I like Ellis for a girl, maybe Sydney too.

Sorry, I'm not too keen on the boy names. I know someone who just had a little boy and named him Roman and all I could think of was that guy that's been on that soap opera Days of our Lives for years named Roman.

I love Ellis and Sydney, but the rest, I don't care for.

For the boys, Roman is nice. The other ones are sort of cheesy, and my neighbor has a daughter named Brooklyn.

Ellis is great though it sounds more like a boys name to me. I don't like the sound of the other names.
Do you think it will make your child seem more important to have a name that is also an important place?
I picked out a name for my daughter and when I saw her I could see it didn't fit. Perhaps you could wait until you see your child and then see what name fits.

Are you sure? Think it over - how would it sound if you say London is in London or Houston has gone to Texas?

BTW, Roman is not the place - Rome is.

yeah...Brooklyn is a girls' name, you don't want that kid made fun of do you? Why not Dallas instead of Houston? or Scotland and just call him Scott. I like Ireland for a girl. But out of your list I'd have to pick Sydney and Roman.

Berlin and London sound a little boring. Phoenix is a fabulous name! How interesting would that be for your real name to be Phoenix? I love Augustine.

Maybe...Toledo (like Spain, not so much Ohio), Zion (it's also a nat. park), Hudson, Juno, Rio, Austin, Memphis, Jackson, Washington, Phili, Katmai (nat. park), Salvador, Havana, Cheyenne, Rushmore...
