First of all life is beautiful and we only have one shot at it, so make the most of it and if you feel you've abandoned your best friend who lives 3k miles away then ask yourself why? Maybe you need to go back to where you're more happy, overthere not where you're at.

My best friend lives 2000 miles away. He is still my best friend. He has been my best friend for most of our lives. That does not change because we live apart or because we don't see each other but once in maybe a year or two. Write letters. Make pone calls. Send emails. If they are truly your friend they will respond and keep the friendship alive.
Meanwhile, live your life. Have fun. Be happy. And cut the I hate my life stuff. It's the only life you have.Try answering some of these questions, you may find you have more in common than you think. I have answered many. You do.
And don't underestimate the value of tears. Without them your eyes would dry up and you would go blind.
Go watch a funny movie. Laugh . It will do you good.
And make more friends. You can never have too many.
Isolation is a bad thing, especially if you are the one isolating yourself. Get out there and do something about it.
And don't forget, those closest to you are the ones most likely to understand just how you feel if you let them.

It would be so easy to just say get over it and move on, but I know it's never that easy. I'm guessing you have moved, or been forced to move and that is never easy.
You have not abandoned your friend, they are still there and there are many ways to keep in contact, whether writing letters, talking on the phone, e-mailing or using MSN or Yahoo messenger. You will still be able to contact them.
Start looking at what is positive in your life and that will help, write down the things you are thankful and grateful for. Also you will make new friends try and be open and look on this as a new experience, a new adventure. All you need to do is believe that things will get better and they will. Have a bit of faith and a little bit of hope, things may look down now but they will turn around for you.

How old are you? The answers you receive will really depend on that answer. 'hating life' is something that probably everyone has experienced - but you have to look ahead, you know, at what you will be doing in a week from now, then a month, and so on.
I found that writing down my feelings in a journal and at the end also write down what I can do to change those feelings. Check back to what you've written and see how you have progressed. Good luck - but don't be embarrassed about crying, we all do.

I'm guessing you have moved. Well... for your best friend and your other friends- you guys can always keep in contact by e-mail or phone. You will make new friends, you just have to get used to everything around you and try to get over the fact that you now live wherever you live so you might as well make the best of it. You can be happy anywhere you go....
