Good question! I lived in Japan for 6 years, and I saw all these comedy TV shows over there where people were slapping each other, hitting each other with toy hammers, and all of this other slapstick Three Stooges type stuff.

Just a different sense of humor, a result of cultural differences.

I live in Japan, and I've never seen anyone getting slapped!! (Except on the occasional Hollywood movie....)

But I'm English, and I do know that there's a BIG problem over there these days ... I think it was the 'Tango' adverts that gave people the idea, but now there are 'attacks' on people, and the attacker's friends use their mobile phones to film it. They call it 'Happy Slapping' - a misnomer if ever there was one! I don't know where you're from, but if Britain is a 'foreign country' to you, then there you go!!

I'm not from Japan, but I love to watch people get slapped. Even more fun to do the slapping. My boyfriend and I often slap eachother's arms until one of us gives in. Of course, I am a bit strange so................

some foreign countries are just crazy. Then you have the one that are use to it, and that is what they belive in. They aren't going to change. Like China at one time they couldn't more then one child then if it was a girl they would have to kill her, or leave on the streets.

It's not so strange. People everywhere (our country included) seem to like watching other people's pain. It makes them feel better about there own lives.

One too many atomic bombs dropped on them. Actually, the aggressiveness of the old culture reflects on the modern society.
