To fans of Nascar and other forms of stock car racing it does sometimes seem as if there are a lot of those that hate the sport.
However if you attend a local dirt track or even some of the paved tracks on the weekends, you will find that love of the sport is huge.
"Haters" are just like any person has dislikes any given sport, but it sometimes seems as though the detractors of Nascar are a little louder.
I for one do not like basketball at any level, but I don't make an issue of.
We motorsport fans are a little louder, a little longer than most other sports, and it is much easier to have strong opinions about the sport because we look at one or two drivers, not a team with many characters.
It's easier for us to identify with our favorites, and is actually much easier to show our interest with a multitude of fanwear.
Other sports trade so many players every season its hard to make a personal commitment to any single player.
That said, the "haters" are always going to be there, just ignore them and raise your pennant high and look for the checkered-flag.

To me NASCAR is one big happy family. We all have likes and dislikes. We all have friends ( Favorite Drivers ), and enimies ( Least Favorite Driver). We as a family are there for the good and bad times. We support one another. I agree that unless you see a NASCAR Race live you could NEVER apprecitate the sport! I know at the races we get excited when there is a crash, but we truely do hope everyone is ok at the end of the day! Perfect example of the NASCAR FAMILY would be the experiences the country had after the death of Dale SR! I love nascar, and forever will be a fan!

well we all have our own opinions about all sports and players etc , just like when we buy our food etc we all have our own opinions on what we feel someone else should buy eat or cook , well with sports its the same way , there are those who like basketball but then theres that dont but they will answer questions because they may like it or not like it etc , just like nascar we bash certain drivers because we like this driver better and we will look for the faults in the drivers we dont like and ignore the ones from the driver we like alot of pepole will say its not a sport because the guys are not running jumping swimming etc all they r doing is driving but they dont real lize the mental strain , and the strain it puts on the drivers body going 180 miles around turns etc , if they dont think nascar driving is a sport then im sorry golg isnt either , all they do is hit a ball and sometimes drive to the next location or walk to it just to hit the ball in a lil hole .

I agree, if people would give it a chance & watch it they might actually like it! But right away some people just want 2 judge it. What those people just don't understand is how demanding & tough the sport can be. It isn't an easy sport, i'd be clostrophobic in one of those cars! NASCAR takes a lot of talent & skill, some people just don't get that.

Hey, I love Nascar probably more than any other sport!!!!!! The best thing I love about Nascar is that they are a family and when things go wrong and there is a death everyone in Nascar cares. What other sport publicly acknowledges it's opponent's in time of need like Nascar does.Nascar is Family!!!!!

Ohhh! The worst NASCAR haters are the Formula 1 fans that hate stock car racing! I understand and appreciate both forms of racing, however, some people are just too stubborn.
But, to answer your question, most people dislike something that they can't understand. Not that they're stupid, but they would rather bash something than to get off of their high-horse and try to understand it. That goes far beyond racing, however. That mindset transcends to politics, religion, racism, etc.
Well, thats my two cents.....and this is my two points!

I like NASCAR racing,,been to several races,,nothing like the roar of the cars coming down the back stretch(Michigan) or the smell of the gasoline and burning rubber(Martinsville),,watching the pit action up close,,,meeting the drivers in the hospitality tents, pit roll tours,(Michigan),,meeting drivers in the souvenir trailors prior to the race's(Martinsville),,getting to meet other fans from all over the country,,and most fans are friendly even if they favor other drivers,,,go once and you will be hooked!!

I will go to my grave loving NASCAR!! Go Mark Martin! You're exactly right NASCAR is one big family. NASCAR is also so fan oriented and they honestly love their fans and do alot to go out of their way to see that their fans are taken care of whether in an autograph line or you just pass then at a store. Thanks to all the NASCAR drivers & their families for all they do for us - the fans!

I think alot of people jump in because there are only so many question pertaining to NASCAR, so they answer them all. One thing for you though, I wouldn't worry at all about the ones that don't like it, don't worry about who they bash, what stupid comments about going in circles, don't let it get you down. We all know NASCAR rocks and that is good enough for me. You are not going to change any minds, just like any sport you like it or you don't. Quit worrying about who dosen't like it and enjoy those of us that do :)
I will be at MIS this weekend!! I can't wait! Boogity, boogity, boogity!!! Wahoooo!!!

It is the same reason athiests answer questions about Christianity and vice versa. We are all hoping we can change the other persons opinion and maybe if we do that enough, what we don't like will go away.
