Probably right before or right as the PS3 hits the market. That's it's biggest competition, look for prices to go down as much as 30%

No announcement is made, but it's a very safe bet to assume it will be a long time coming (at least a year, maybe closer to 2). Sony and Nintendo are launching their next-generation systems around the holiday season, but with the PS3 expected to launch even more expensive than the 360 and the Wii not considered a comparable system by most gamers, the 360's $300/400 price tag is going to stand up for a while. One of the major reasons for this is that Microsoft (and other gaming companies) lose money on their actual systems for a while after they come out, because the technology is so expensive. They recoup these losses in game and accessory sales. For a system to drop in price you have to wait for two things: One, the market to dry up enough that the systems have hit their saturation point amongst gamers willing to spend the current amount, and Two, for the cost of technology to come down to where the manufacturers can afford to lower the prices further. Sorry if this is bad news to you.

My guess will be november when Sony and Nintendo enter the market with their newest consoles the PS3 and the Wii. The PS3 is set to Debut about the same price as the Xbox 360 and the Wii will be less than $250. Also around the same time Microsoft is expected to release an Xbox 360 with a HD Dvd Drive to Compete with Sony's Blue Ray drive in the PS3. I think that the standard 360 in november will see a small price drop to compete with the PS3.

I'd be surprised if there isn't either a drop or a bundle shortly before Halloween. The rumors are putting the Wii release at $250 around the first week of November, so I would expect Microsoft to either drop the Core price $25-50, or bundle Core with a new game at the 300 price point. Don't expect much more of a drop-off for the premium system, though.

regardless of rumors of a cost decrease, Microsoft reported on the E3 commerce tutor about a week in the past that they don't have any plans to diminish the price of any of the 360s yet. marketplace analysts are declaring that is probable because the Elite nonetheless more cost-effective than the PS3 (even although the PS3 60GB has been decrease with assistance from $one hundred).
