i'm catholic too, and i remember being a teen (i'm 23 now) and ppl assumed i was a bad seed because of my long hair, and concert shirts, and that i played guitar. they didnt take the time to find out that i was an all A and B student, and to this day i've never drank, smoked or done a drug, let alone something ridiculous like worshipping the devil. ppl just fear what they dont understand, and if they cant figure out why you'd want to dress a certain way, they make up a reason.

Just as you think that other people pre-judge you, you're doing the same thing by assuming that everyone holds the belief that punk rockers and gothic people worship the devil...However, I might say that people may assume you worship the devil because a lot of the themes centered around gothic culture are dark - the music especially can sometimes be too depressing or filled with hatred...and God-filled people generally are happy cause they got the holy spirit. But you should know that there are so many stereotypes out there and people are going to judge you no matter what you wear or how you live your life, but the trick is to not focus on that. You are who you are and what you do and how you dress is between only you and God, so who cares what everyone else thinks. Rock on!

My opinion...okay. I don't think it matters what you wear as far as how God sees you, but sometimes if we are Christians we do need to be careful what we represent, or how we appear, to others. For example, if you want someone to see that living a life for Christ brings peace, you probably wouldn't be wise to be an instigator of fights, right? So as far as my opinion on how you look? For the most part, I would say everybody has their own style preferance, and that's fine. But quick question; if Jesus represents life, and you want to be a witness of that life, why would you want to wear a symbol assosiated with death, /poison/evil, etc on you? (the skulls) Just a thought. And one last thing; Do your classmates see by your life, your example, that you worship Jesus? If not, that, combined with the goth look, is probably what's leading them to jump to conclusions about you.

Because simply...they are fools. Those who see something like that and are wary immediately assume that you don't worship who they would like you to. When someone sees something they don't like, they be live that you do something they would never do, aka, wearing spikes, black, skulls etc, which also ties in with you not worship ping who they want you to. Those are 2 things they are wary of and will blame anyone who does something not acceptable to them of another thing that is not acceptable. Simple as that. A more then common foolish human assumption.

I don't dress Punk or Gothic (after all, what would the grandkids think?), but I LOVE to see it! It's beautiful and edgy. Why anyone would make the jump to an assumption about the subject's religion is quite beyond me. I say, consider the source, and don't worry. The Diety knows your heart, after all!

society as a whole functions within certain margins. Its either one color or the other there is no shades.so if you just give someone a little time to get to know you or maybe incorporate an outward sign of your love for Jesus maybe a wwjd bracelet for example it might help.

Its the clothes. When i dress like that like I often do, most ppl look at me as if i am about to put curses on them. Goth can be about about the fashion. attitude and music w/o the satanism that people stereotype it to be.

because our artists are saying very often that rock is the devil's music , for exemple john lennon said once that rock n roll is going to be more popular than christianity and it will have more followers then the church ... and many metal bands are singing about satan

Some people are judgmental and ignorant- they stereotype and make assumptions.
Don't let other people who refuse to know the real you get you down. Just be your awesome self.
