Wow. What a thought. Without anyone to compare ourselves to I don't think we would have a concept concerning looks. That's my thinking on this. I can't prove it, of course.

the media most definitely attributes to having a bad body image. example: Samoans are naturally big people. that was fine until they started getting western magazines and t.v., once that happened eating disorder rates sky-rocketed. i don't think other people have half as much to do with how you feel about yourself. well, aside from your loved ones but usually they don't tell you your fat or ugly. i always notice that reading a fashion magazine makes me feel fat. the media actually profits off of people having low self-esteem. so i think someone who grew up in a place where they didn't have the media constantly blasting at them wouldn't feel half as fat or ugly as many of s do.

the beauty as other comparable stuff are not reflected just to the most similar things or close related... that is why is comparable the fat/ugly image of a human or thing in relation with any other stuff...
in general ppl need to be convinced very often that they are beauty... so there you see... also is this perspective to disconsider your image...

I would suppose that if we had no others to compare ourselves to, we would be totally content with the way that we looked. I'm sure Adam and Eve didn't have a problem with looks or weight.

Your weight and looks would be normal regardless of what size you were or how you looked.
The entire concept of human beauty would not exist without comparison.

If that were the case then you wouldn't have any of those worries. It's society standards that make us worry about that stuff.
