Here goes...There are monuments to TWO (2) ex-Cardinals who never played for the Yankees in Monument Park, where monuments to Babe Ruth, Lou Gerhig, etc are located. Could you please tell me who the two ex-Cardinals are and for what on-the-field accomplishment they received this honor?

The ex Cardinals with monuments in Yankee Stadium are (A-hem) Pope Paul VI and Pope John Paul II for masses given at Yankee Stadium. As far as I know, neither one played for the Yankees like Maris...

Technically there are no monuments for ex-cardinals.

There are, however, 3 plaques of ex cardinals- Pope Paul VI who on October 4, 1965 celebrated a Mass at Yankee Stadium , Pope John Paul II, who fourteen years later, on October 2, 1979 celebrated a Mass there, and Roger Maris who played for the Cleveland Indians in 1957 before being traded to the Kansas City Athletics.

BTW the 5 monuments are:
Miller Huggins, manager 1918-29.

Lou Gehrig, first baseman 1923-39. Gehrig was the first Major League Baseball player to have his uniform number retired.

Babe Ruth, right fielder 1920-34

Mickey Mantle, center fielder 1951-68

Joe DiMaggio, center fielder 1936-51

Most if not all of those players in Monument Park helped guide the Yankees to a World Championship. If A-Rod can help in that process, say 3-4 times during his career. The Steroid Issue will be all but forgotten by the Yankees fans.

There are three ex-Cardinals in monument park. Here they are:
"The monument area is a treasure trove of trivia: three ex-Cardinals— Pope Paul VI, John Paul II, and Roger Maris— have plaques there."

Maris is there for the homerun record, and Pope Paul VI and John Paul II, for a reason I don't know.
