Mt McKinley in Alaska. It's 20,320 feet up. Actually the highest point in North America.
Mt. St. Helens is in Washington. It's a tad bit smaller (especially because it blew itself up in the 80s) - 8,364 ft

A variation on this is that Mount Logan (Yukon Territory, 5950 meters,19,521 feet), is the highest point in Canada. It is not far from the Alaska border, roughly 50 miles.
