So far, I have kept up with ESPN and their coverage of the World Cup. I'm bit angry, however, as they only report on the other 31 teams and (it seems) they intentionally ignore Mexico. They have made a huge deal about Trinidad and Tobago, England, Poland, Ecuador, Costa Rica, and even Tunisia! ESPN only gave a two-minute report on the Mexico vs. Iran game. In their report, they made a huge deal out of the Iran controversy. ESPN briefly mentioned GK Oswaldo Sanchez's loss of his father.

Mexico is expected to go far in the tournament, so that may be why they probably didn't get as much ESPN coverage as the teams you mentioned.

Reasons I think that countries you mentioned have more coverage.

Poland - eliminated today and probably was expected to be one of the two teams out of their group.

Trinidad and Tobago - had unexpected tie in first game. US networks love underdogs.

England - Haven't won in a while, and are expected to go far.

Ecuador - finally beating the "only can win in their home country" crutch.

Costa Rica - not sure

Tunisia - tie in the first game (I think)

No not likeyly. Keep in mind ESPN is based in the United States there for the US will get talked about the most. Also when it comes to the games Mexico is playing in you have a better chance of catching them on a Spanish speaking television channel.

Do not get mad about this. It's true what I am going to tell you. ESPN needs to concentrate on the other 31 teams because UNIVISION is pro Mexico. UNIVISION shows Mexican league games live, they and Telemundo show Mexico's national team live where as the other teams even the US are shown either on tape delay or not shown at all. As far I can say, ESPN is doing the best they can, if Mexico is left behind, you can go to UNIVISION.

If they are ignoring Mexico, why was the Mexico-Iran game televised on ABC? Only the games which draw the most viewers would get put on ABC.

Not really...in the US, all networks only report on "news Items" which will get them higher ratings. It's all about the ratings and not about the news or games. So, they will only show those games and build up those games which have the potential of high ratings.
Remember if you are in Europe you don't hear about NBA or NFL...

Fans of all teams think their team gets disrespected more than anyone else. It's just a fact of life. No, they're not ignoring them.
