Maybe it's because I was raised in New York, but now live in Atlanta, and it's simply that I can't take the impossible, brain-broiling heat down here. I mean, 95 degrees in June, give me a freakin' break.

The simplest, most compelling data about global warming I've seen is that the hottest 5 years ever recorded have been in the last decade. Specifically, the hottest years on record have been: 2005, 1998, 2002, 2003, and 2004.

Longer term trends like receeding glaciers around the world and trees growing further north and at higher elevations than they ever have (for thousands of years) are also very, very strong data in my mind.

Of course, you also have moved further south and so summer will be longer, hotter and more humid for those reasons. And that is a bigger factor over a period of a few years.

But in 20 years, climatically, NY will be the new Atlanta, Atlanta will be the new Miami, etc.

No, it's not getting hotter because the hottest summer was when I was pregnant back in 2002. It was so unbearable!

You should be in NY now. So far, the East Coast has had very mild weather.
