Soak the sty with a warm water washcloth several times a day. Keep it clean and make sure you wash your hands after touching the area. A sty is usually caused by the staphylococcus bacteria and can be contagious.

A stye is an infection deep within the glands beneath the eyelashes or within the oil-secreting glands of the eyelids. A Stye may appear as a red bump that looks very much like a pimple. The stye is usually caused by Staphylococcus bacteria that infect the gland or root of the hair. The eyelids may be red, tender to the touch and swollen. Other symptoms may include redness in the eyes, itch, burning or gritty sensation within the eyes and mucous. Contaminated mascara brushes and eye makeup have been associated with stye formation.

You could always use the an old wise tale: Stand on the corner of the street and say, "stye stye in my eye, jump on the next passer by" LOL.

C'mon! Not a boiling hot wet rag, but a warm wet compress. When the stye is "ripe" you might be able to gently burst it.
They also make OTC lotions for styes. One brand is "Stye".

Antibiotics. I would suggest anyone with a stye should be seen by a doctor. The infections may damage your vision if left untreated.

Usually all that works for me is running some very hot water, soak a washcloth in it, and put it on your affected eye. Make sure you wash the cloth afterwards or you can spread the infection. And don't rub or touch the hurt eye or again, you can spread the infection. They are usually gone in a day or so. (this works for me anyways.) Good luck and I hope it clears up soon. =)

yes, a HOT rag. i am prone to these (i dunno why, i rarely wear eye makeup) and my doctor suggested using a hot rag and kind of massaging the area. it will bring the sty head to the surface where it will drain itself. the first time i got one, i didn't do anything about it and now i have a little bit of a lump where it was.
also, make a solution out of hot water and tearless baby shampoo and dip a cotton swab in it and swab the infected area. this will help clean out what caused the infection in the first place.

there is some OTC stuff, but the best thing you can do is warm compresses. If is really bad, go to the doctor, they will give you antibiotics. Usually three days with those, a week with the compress.
