The reason being is becuase United States hasn't been that big in soccer untill like 10 years ago. The reason why Everyone on the other side of the world is so much better, is becuase they all grew up with it, They play and practice everyday and it has been over there for many many many years so they familirize themselves better and better where as the United States is still learning many ways and skills in soccer.

Americans are more into baseball, football. Usually members of a country love a sport if their team is good at it, or they have real pride. America isn't good at soccer, so not many people care. If they were to win a championship of some sort, then the Americans might wake up and say "wow, this truely is the greatest game invented in the universe"

Well soccer is popular in the States. The only thing is in North America we have so many other sports too chose from. Where as in a country of England they live and breath soccer as we do with hockey, baseball&football. I don't see too many britains playing hockey or baseball. So its only fitting , they are just better than we are. But not for much longer Canada & States will have their chance.

I love soccer and I'm from America so I think I could best answer this question. It's too low scoring say my friends. Although I've shown them some Manchester United matches and La Liga games and they love it. We've even had world cup parties. I think because good soccer is so hard to find. You either have to have cable or satellite to watch. Also they are true to believe this because they have been brain washed by the boring MLS matches ( which I believe should imply the relegation factor). If they went over to Europe or South America they would feel the passion that we all love. It wasn't until I traveled to Holland that I really loved soccer.

Because the US doesn't have a good professional league to get the people interested. It's always more fun to cheer for your own than some good team from overseas. Don't give me the "we have too many sports here" crap. In Europe we watch football (of the soccer kind), handball, basketball, volleyball, waterpolo, ice hockey, field hockey, beach volleyball, formula one, stock car races (but not NASCAR), rugby, cricket, etc. The only sports we do not watch are American football and baseball. Golf is kinda in between.

Little by littel the sport is becoming popular. MLS is pushing for soccer only stadiums, by doing this, MLS will generate more revenue and get better players to attract more fans to watch MLS.
Right now, be proud of the US national team, even though they don't look good. The more support we give our team, the more people will start getting interested.

Oh but it is, although I have to say it was a slow "catch-on". In 1987, I met a retired soccer player from Vienna. He was quick to point out the finer points of soccer. Well, we know the USA loves it's football but soccer is the next big up-and-comer stateside. It is on the rise. Now, after this friend taught me few a fast, fun facts about soccer, I understand the game and tune in. We are such a competitive race. To me, knowing the game is loving the game. Thanks to Vienna for a new love! Soccer!

the only other sport the rest of the world has is cricket - which is an even more boring version of baseball ... so of course they'll be into football (european football)
