Because second hand smoke kills, you f--king retard. Smokers and non-smokers aren't two different classes of people, with special rights and priveleges. Having said that, smokers violate the rights of others to not have to breathe in toxic fumes. That's the beauty of our system-- your rights end where my rights begin, and vice versa. The violated's rights will always take precedence over the violator's rights-- that's the nature of Justice and victimization.
You can't really be this obtuse, can you? I mean, your question's not rhetorical, or anything. The answer is obvious. I'm trying to figure out why you're asking a question. It seems like more of a statement.
Unless you're supposed to be clever? Or is cynicism a new virtue, or something? Perhaps it's reverse psychology/hypocrisy that you find so rewarding-- crying about people crying?

Just to give you some info on me. I am ex-smoker after six years of the habit. I work in a bar as a bartender. SInce I've been there and done that I can honesty tell you that smoking is not the most attractive habit out there. And the reason people might be offended is how you present your smoking. Since it's your habit, your in charge of how you present your smoking, its like drinking if your past your limit the bouncer might kick you out. So people might not accept the smoke your breathing out that they now have breath in. I hope this does'nt sound as an attack towards in any way, and I hope I gave you perspective that makes sence.

The place where smokers hang out is the same place that non-smokers hang out.
You could ask, why do smokers go to the places where non-smokers hang out ? Same thing from the other side of the coin.

Because people who don't smoke love to do things that smokers do, like go to Vegas, eat al fresco, gaze at the stars in the evening breeze, etc. And we shouldn't have to worry about sucking in second-hand smoke while we are doing it. Smoking is a nasty and disgusting habit. I know it's fun, HECK, I used to smoke too. It was relaxing and it was cool, but I think a persons right to do things for pleasure should end when others health and safty and quality of life are at stake. So I QUIT! Never been better....HINT

Are you saying non-smokers go to the smoking area and complain? That would be silly.
I think you smokers have the right to do your
thing, in an isolated area.
Do you know that an unpleasant odor can build up on smokers? I guess it's on their clothes.

Because Non-Smokers have a right to go ANYWAY and breathe in fresh air. Smokers on the other hand SHOULD NOT have the right to pollute ANY air with their dangerous fumes.
Smoke in your house where you can make your rooms, furniture, clothes, body, hair, breath & family stink like a rats *** and don't come outside to inflict your nasty odours on the rest of the world unless its to go to hospital for treating your smoking related illness like cancer.

Because even at places that smokers frequent they are by far the minority. Even at a bar, there aren't that many people smoking, and yet they make the whole room fill with their cancer-causing smoke.

Because they are dumb. They must want to smoke themselves if they're always around the smoke. Im a smoker and I hate it when someone says to put it out. I would like to put it out in their eye.

By places non-smokers like to hang out, I assume you mean resturaunts, parks, and other places we are too dumb enough to stay away from so that the smokers can get their suicide on? Sorry, that's my opinion. Ramble on!

I don't cry about second hand smoke because I deal with it. If I wanted to whine I can do that at home!
