I think youth is fantastic, however, I have to search through a large number of questions that are geared towards the younger generation. For those of us over 40 to share our views with someone half our age is like being a parent again. If they don't listen to their parents, they probably will not listen to us.

I feel a "more mature" catagory would provide better opportunities for questions and answers.

What do you think?

Yes I would.

Yes! I too agree a category for folks over 40 would be great. We folks over that age are no longer (on the average) interested in the types of questions that are geared towards the younger generation.
There is a saying, been there, done that. I add not interested in going there anymore. The younger generation is mostly a do it in a hurry group. The word patience has lost its meaning.

I think several things:
1) maturity is about more than age (some of the brightest people I know are under 25);
2) advice given freely is worth what you paid for it;
3) ghettos of old folks depress me;
4) the format of this forum does not permit "segregation."
5) I'm well over 40 and I guess you are, also, so, as the burger commercial used to whine, "Where's the beef?"

That's what I think.

Oh, and the poor grammar and spelling are just "tells" ... ignore those questions and you solve most of your problems.
Cheers.

Being the 21 year old that I am...

I noticed the dragon chortling on the ground holding her stomach...

"Oh stop it Dio, you are killing me"

"OK, so 30"

She just kept thrashing around holding her sides.

So OK, 52. And yeah, I think you have a good idea there, except what do you call it?

I do books, philosophy, psychology, music. So we are going to create an old fuddy duddy forum? Wonderful.

Yeah, I will be sure to join that.

Humor. There is no freaking humor forum.

YO, YAHOO. YOU MISSED SOMETHING!!!

Age thing though, I am not sure how you would do that.

Seriously.

For once.

What, you want to be penned off from the kiddies on an Internet forum.

Um....

Just because you are past the expiration date doesn't mean you have to take it out on us, the cool people. Seriously man, have you ever heard of ageism...cause you're up to it right now. Did you ever think that maybe the youth don't want you around answering our questions because we feel like you're trying to be a parent again? Don't try to vicariously re-parent your f'ed up children through Yahoo! Answers! Oh poor you...you have to use your poor old eyes to search through appropriate questions. Go get fitted for some Coke bottle glasses to alleviate the strain! Dude, the computer age wasn't made for you, so don't try to act like it is. And you're right, I wouldn't listen to you because you obviously know nothing if you are on Yahoo looking for answers to your questions! And are you noticing how many 5 dollar words I'm using to tell you off...I'm educated and offended by your discrimination towards young people. Now give me 10 points, man!

Yes. Perhaps it would keep moronic and insulting people from giving answers and viewing questions from those of us who like to show some level of intellect and common sense. Both of which are obviously lacking in some, but not all mind you,of the responses by the under 40 crowd.

No, I think the younger people want to hear from our past experiences, kind of look to us for advice, and who else better to give it than me and you and everyone else that is our age. They probably did not listen to their parents but if their asking a question to a bunch of total strangers, they are looking to listen for advice and answers. Remember, you're parents really don't know as much as you, but someone else just may. Great question!

Way to go Nick! I agree with you completely! I am 48 and most of the questions I answer are for people half my age! I do the best I can but sometimes I do feel out of touch!
Let's hope the people at Yahoo answers see this!

i agree with you completely, it would be really nice if Yahoo answers did a catagory for mature people, i mean i enjoy giving advice to the young ones every now and again ,but then its nice when you know someone has been through music and times that you have .

Gosh yes! Many of these children cannot spell or even put there questions out in a manner I can understand. They ask some of the most horrific questions that any one with a brain should know! I am with you.

first...sapphire girl needs a LIFE!!! THERES the reason teachers and parents give up and they call it..ADOPTION!! Anyway, it IS a good question. I am also one who loves communicating with kids who have RESPECT toward adults (sorry, sapphire that was painful to read), but I would also enjoy talking to and about things around my age. NOTE: I know a LOT about computers and the ONLY thing I use that's coca-cola size....is diet coke!!! HA!!!
