I think that you should file a harassment claim with that persons supervisor. By law, if the supervisor is aware that you are being harassed and does nothing about it, you can sue them. Just make sure you document every incident and try to have witnesses. Take the fu%&er down. Nobody should be treated that way.

I would think it would depend on what kind of swearing it was.
If he's calling you names, I believe that you would have some recourse for being forced to work in a hostile environment; although, if they're not names based on gender, religion or race, it might be more along the lines of something your human resources department would have to do.
If someone is calling you things like the "n" word or something along those lines, then he has definitely crossed lines that the law has drawn.
If he's saying things like, "I'm so f'ing tired of you coming in late," then I don't think there's anything you can do, because he hasn't *called* you something. He's an idiot, in that instance, but he's not breaking any laws.

As far as I know...no one can legally swear at you...I know in Texas if you swear at someone that usually starts a fight....thats what we call--"Fighting Words" as for a BOSS ...no way...you can take it up with your Human Resources of your company or call you Home Office and let them know that your boss is harrassing you

If he can't then my boss has broken the law way too many times and should be serving a life sentence in prison by now.

He cannot use any profanity in the work place towards you but if he was out in the streets or whatever anything outside of the work place sure he can swear at you.

Legally - probably. Depends on the company's policies and the context of what was being said. If he just said a cuss word get over it. That happens everywhere.

Assuming you are in the United States. Not if you ask him to stop, by saying you aren't comfortable with the way he talks to you. If he continues, this would constitute a "hostile work enviroment" which falls under the sexual harrassment category.

there may not be a law specifically stating that it is illegal but if it is offensive to you in any way it is considered harassment and that is illegal. Talk to your pr person or some other trusted person of an equal or higher position than them to let them know that you don't like or appreciate their behavior

Sure can - unless his conduct becomes so egregious or outrageous as to create a hostile work environment.

Legally, I don’t think so.
If they do it… I guess it’s a power trip, and how many employees have had the balls to tell on them.
They do it, because they know they can
