Most people don't remember John Hadle. This goes back to the Dan Devine years at GB. Hadle was quarterback prior to Dan Fouts in the 60's and early 70's in San Diego. Hadle was in his waning years and Devine trades 5 draft choices. # 1's and #2's for Hadle. (for perspective -This would be like trading 5 1st and 2nd draft picks for Drew Bledsoe)
Hadle only played a two more seasons for the Pack (both losing seasons 5-7-2 abd 6-8) and retired. This got Devine fired and set the Packers in purgatory, until Ron Wolf showed up in town and cleaned house in 1991 and traded a late #1 pick in the draft for Farve.
Another bad trade - Steve Young from TB to SF for a I believe a 2nd round pick.

In hindsight, it was the Falcons trading for the number one pic that got them Michael Vick...the Chargers were able to pick up Brees and LT and go to the playoffs almost perennially whereas the Falcons are a rudderless ship.
Personally, as a Jets fan, it was trading last 2005 NUMBER ONE pick for freakin' Doug Jolley even though Heath Miller would have easily fallen to them...they could have traded back and still gotten Miller...the final indignity came when they picked a kicker with the second round pick...
Thankfully, those responsible are collecting unemployment.

The Herschel Walker trade isn't just a personal feeling. That's a pretty much universal feeling. It was the worst.
Brett Favre (from Atlanta to Green Bay) for a first round pick was pretty bad in hindsight.

Trading the location of the Raiders from Oaklnad to Los Angeles is the worst blunder ever made. There is no worse football city than La La land, and AL Davis came back soem years later with his tail between his legs.

It's hard to top the Walker trade; giving up the future for somebody that's best years were behind him.
I think New Orleans trading away their whole draft for Ricky Williams is also at the top in the category of bad trades.

The John Elway trade with Denver and Baltimore (colts). I know Elway didnt want to play for that orginization, but they still traded him. He is arguably the greatest QB of all time.
