Maids do not make a good wage. Live in maids make less, even though they have the benefit of room and board along with the use of the laundry facilities for themselves and not paying utilities, other than a telephone bill in some cases. Day maids make a little more. This has not changed.

Maids were in service, i,e, they lived in and had a room and board and uniform provided, by the family in whose house they lived. So you can't really think of whatever money they were given as a wage as they did not have to pay rent, heating or food bills. A bit like an au pair nowadays.
That said, the first state old age pension was paid in 1908 and it was five bob a week (five shillings or 25p in today's money). This suggests that average wages were of the order of 25 shillings (£1.25p) a week at that time as the pension has always been about a fifth of the average worker's wage.

they were paid but paid very little and usually toke outside jobs for laundry to make due. The other comments are wrong we are talking about 1912 not the days of slaves and plantations.

Considering that the rich people acted like they didn't exist unless they needed them, not too much.
Well women weren't paid much for their work anyway. Ask the poor seamstresses.
