Switch the numbers around, make it 35 instead of 53 and blame it on a dyslexic baker!

Do not put his age on the cake at all. Make him a nice dinner or take him out dancing and to a special romantic resturant. Buy him a nice gift and a wonderful card that is humorous! How About Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband!!!! No age at all on it and decorate in in whatever his favorite sport is wheter it be soccer, football, nascar racing or whatever. You know what he likes so go for it and get a romantic hotel for the night with a jacuzzi in it and lots of candles! I wish you the bed and Happy Birthday to him! Throw him a suprise party bash this weekend too he would love it!
Or you can put the numbers backwards and make it 35 lol he would love it and laugh at the same time and he would love you for it!

On my last birthday, my husband and children woke me up with breakfast in bed, singing this song, "She's a little past 40, but a long way from over the hill. She's a little past 40, but she's sensational still!..." My husband always makes me feel young and pretty. I know this song may be too corny for your husband, but I thought it was neat! We have heard all about the mid-life thing with men. Indulge him a little concerning activities that make him feel youthful or productive.

I think most people do have an issue with getting older. My hubby was complaining this year about getting so old he was closer to death than birth (at a whopping old age of 33!) so for his birthday, I got a bakery cake with a Hotwheel car design and threw a kids themed party for him with his friends. Everyone had a good time and he said it taught him to complain about his age ever again! We'll see what happens next year.

Put "Happy 39th" on the cake. When he sees it, he'll ask, "What the hell is this? I'm 53!". Then you'll say, "I think you look 39, so I put 39 on it." He might not show a smile at your response, but he'll be smiling inside.

Get him a cake shaped like a woman in a bikini. That may cheer him up.
