I've got a PC and Mac sitting here at home. I would like to put them both on the internet at the same time. Is it possible? I don't care about sharing files between them. I've got a simple Net DSL 800 series connection that won't do it for me.

Simple question: Do I need another router, will it work, and HOW DO I DO IT???

Yes, you need another router. It will the fastest and most efficient way to do this. There is software you could install that allows it to be done through one of the computers, but it is a nightmare and you would always have to have both machines on. With the prices of Internet Broadband routers these days, why even bother.

I won't fill up this page with the "How-to", so please take a look here:

You need to add a router between your computers and your DSL connection
The Linksys BEFSR41 router would work. It would add 4 ports that can access the Internet through the DSL connection.
Just follow the instructions on the setup CD.
I suggest doing the router setup from the PC instead of the Mac.

Buy an inexpensive router like a netgear or linksys. Without Wifi, they cost about $30 these days. Plug the DSL into the Wan port and the computers into the LAN ports and you'll be set.

I've done it without a router. I selected to share my Airport connection with the PC. Of course, the Apple has to be on for it to work on the PC, and because I only have one ethernet connection available, it's kinda limited. It worked for me, though, on a temporary basis, but it would probably be better to go ahead and get a router.

You only need one router. Just setup both computers to use DHCP to obtain the Ip address, Subnet mask, and Default Gateway from your router. That will allow you to get online via TCP/IP from both mac and pc
