Yes. I recently won $500 from 7Up and was in the running for a trip into space. I didn't get the future trip, but got a nice check for 500 bucks! I've also won (or my kids have) things from KidsWB! and other small things. All were nice surprises and arrived with no strings attached (as far as we could tell.) I didn't have to hand out my bank account numbers or anything like that! :-)
No new cars, no new homes, though... darn it! ;-]

They aren't all fake.. granted a lot of them are.
I have won a few contests. Nothing too big. A free cruise (though I had to pay air fare) and a 3 night stay at any Hilton.
I enjoyed them both quite a bit.

Yeah i won 2 good ones
First was at a bar here that was giving away plane tickets, hotel accomidations, transport to and from the hotel to a Tom Petty concert. I filled out 15 slips of paper for it. Didnt realy think i had a chance considering how many other entrees there were. You dont know how many offers for a date i got that night lol.
The second was for a nice nice guitar through the same bar.

I work at a place that holds contests all the time. I can assure you that they are not fake. In fact, people who work there arn't even allowed to participate in the contest because if the outcome was that one of us won, then people would assume that it was set up.

I won a contest at my local radio station called the "perfect album side." I picked X songs (can't remember how many) and they chose them. They played them on the air and I got to speak on the radio a little. I also got a gift certificate to a record store.

Years ago, I won a Cabbage Patch Kid from a local supermarket. Maybe it doesn't sound like a big prize now, but at the time, they were impossible to get! Plus, it's the only thing I've ever won.

My grandpa won a Corvette in Vegas, but didn't get to enjoy it. He died shortly after that. You ever notice that a lot of old people win big. Like that publishers clearing house. These old foggies win millions of dollars then kick the bucket a year down the road. Why cant someone young with their whole lives ahead of them win.
Anyways, I think its fixed to a certain extent.
