Ignorance is a bad thing. I can't believe that people still think this way. If you want to know...technically...we're all from immigrant roots. The only people who are actually from here, are the Native Americans. This is so frustrating. I hate it!

Ignorance is passed down through generations just like dinnerware is passed down to the parents children. If we were to start teaching our children differently than what we've been taught (that is if you know the difference between right and wrong, but everybody has a different perception of that notion), then the process will eventually come to an end. Start in your little corner of the world, that's all we can hope for. And that is a wonderful thing to have....HOPE.

Rascism is believing that one race is superior to another and discriminating for that reason. It is sad that some people can think like that. I don't see as much of it as I used to though. But be careful that you don't define people preferring to be around others that are of the same race, religion, profession, interests etc. as being racist. There is a big difference. Most people don't even know what rascism is.

But I agree it is frustrating when someone thinks they are better than someone else. However being different is a good thing.

When I heard about the uproar over the Spanish recording of the National Anthem, I laughed out loud.

I thought it was hilarious. The funniest thing though is that Bush probably already knows how it goes from living in a state with one of the largest Hispanic populations.

Just so you all know, my Native American (Navajo) tribe has a version of both the National Anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance in our language that is taught to all school children on my reservation.

There is no excuse for any kind of prejudice. If anything, we should learn from children in history like Anne Frank, Ruby Bridges and Ryan White. They all looked into the horrible face of prejudice and experienced things children should never have to endure.

I think you're using the word ignorance too loosely. Ignorance means lacking knowledge. It's natural for humans, or any species, to be clannish. If we were all the same race, we would be divided by (religion-Ireland, Mid East), or by (sexuality-everywhere), politics, etc. This nation is still in it's infancy. Given all the races that are here, I think we are doing ok. Progress in these matters takes a lot of time. It's not ignorance. It's a slow going process of tolerance.

I Agree with you. Racism is a big thing where I used too live.EVER heard of Warrenton in Warren County. Never live there, it is a horrible place too live. It is full of husers and black wannabes. there is nothing to do there besides make fun of the poor, rich, Negroes, and have sex. Around Nine o'clock that is all warrenton people do is have sex. that is all they have on their minds. F.Y.I. I don't do these things. I was always called a cityslicker. I moved away from there and now I am Much better off back in St. Peters. away from the horrible town and back into the city. have anything to say about that?

I think people have a tendency to to paint others with a wide brush. It's not until you get to know someone personally that you can have a true opinion of that person. I'm native American an people tend to have prejudices against me. Crazy drunken Indians! It's a shame. They are also afraid of having their rights violated by other cultures. Majority rules in this country. Especially at election time.

I think why there is still so much racism in the world is because, different races always think they are better than another, or more talented than another. Sometimes I think that people still can be ignorant towards one another, but it's not going to change anything, but make it worse. No matter what we still have to live in the same world with one another.

there is no possible way to get rid of all the ignorance in the world in a short period of time. racism may take a long time 2 be fully wiped out. the best thing u can do is not agree with racist comments, stay open minded, not be racist urself, and not be afraid 2 say "yo jack *** (not gonna curse on this) ur wrong" that sort of thing

It goes back to when we all lived in tribes. Members of many tribes were different - language, skin color, customs, looks. Tribes were constantly competing for food and other resources. The best way to survive was to kill members of other tribes and take their food. This went on for so long that it became part of our genetic makeup. To this day many of us are more comfortable with people who look and act like we do. We distruct those who are different. We have to work hard to overcome these biases that are so ingrained in us.
