I think it should be required that every red blooded American be taken on a vacation to Washington D.C. before their 18th birthday! The Captiol, All the memorials, and definitely Arlington National Cemetary and the changing of the guards at The Tomb of the Unknowns.

I have to agree with Washington, D.C. It is a wealth of information. You can see a lot in a short period of time...The White House, Capitol, the monuments, Arlington Cemetary, National Zoo, Smithsonians, the Vietnam Veteran's Wall, Ford Theater, to name a few. Also go when the cherry trees are in bloom and that is beautiful. My favorite trip to DC was for the St. Paddy's Day Parade, and it was awesome!!!

The Rocky Mountains of Colorado. In my life, I have traveled far and wide. But I chose to make my home in the grandest of all places. When people begin to feel as if the Universe would not be the same without their presence, they need to come to the mountains.

Only when the last tree has died
and the last river been poisoned
and the last fish been caught
will we realize we cannot eat money.

I have to agree with the person who said Washington, DC. Everyone should go to the Smithsonian Institution museums to learn about our country and world. They should sit in on a session of the Senate and Congress, and meet with their congressmen and Senators.

They should visit the monuments and memorials, and walk through Arlington National Cemetery.

Statue of Liberty, Fort Sumter, The Declaration of Independence, Pearl Harbor. At least one of these. Oh, and Ground Zero.

How about the inside of a voting booth?

I know it's not an attraction or tourist site...but how can anyone call themselves an American if they don't get out and vote, dammit!?
