I got a speeding ticket in Scottsdale, AZ by an unmanned camera that caught me going 11 miles over the speed limit. Conviently they only give tickets for people going 11 miles or higher over the speed limit. There were no signs posted about the radar or anything. I live on the East Coast, I was wondering how it would affect me if I didn't pay the ticket.

They don't even do anything to the people that live in those areas who don't pay the fine. Those cameras are stupid. I remember hearing that Arizona law is that if you aren't served your ticket by an officer of the law the ticket is voluntary. After a period of time they will either pay to have you served (not you, you're too far away) and if they can't serve you they drop the charge.

If I were you I'd mail them back a photocopy of some cash. (Don't really, because then they can prove you were served)

I have not studied law, but can tell you from experience. A bench warrant can be issued for your arrest. While they won't hunt you down or send a bounty hunter, ~G~ they CAN suspend your license. Big downer! In the long run, that'd cost you way more than paying the fine.

If money is the problem, call the number on the ticket and see if they'll allow a payment plan.

Your drivers license in the state you reside in will get suspended!! Arizona will report to your Dept of Motor Vehicles if the ticket is not paid after what is deemed SUFFICIENT TIME.(usually 6 mos to 1 yr). Your DMV will then suspend you license for Arizona.

This happened to me for a speeding ticket in Nevada!!!! I never even knew my license was suspended until I got pulled over in my home state!!!

Pay it and save yourself the headache!

There is a warrant for your arrest put out for you in Arizona. One thing you learn in Scottsdale is to never run a red light or speed. EVERYONE gets busted there. They may even be able to suspend your license, but that I'm not sure of.

i have experience on this one, PAY THE TICKET. they will suspend your license, they will put out a warrant on your ***.
and you will get hauled off to jail.
this happened to me ,i got a ticket when i was 19 yrs old in S.C.i didn't pay it since i figured that i wouldn't be driving through there again.
6 years later in Illinois i had to go through a road block on new years night, we weren't drinking yet so i wasn't worried, until the officer came back to my car with my license and asked me to step out of the car and put my hands on the hood. GUESS WHERE I SPENT NEW YEARS NIGHT!!!!! seriously pay the ticket , it will come back to get you

Probably nothing will happen to you but be very careful if you ever return to Arizona
