Both. You've succeded in your personal goal, but failed the general goal.

Yes, it is both answers. Even though it IS do or do not, he would still be doing both at the same time. You CAN do two things at once in this particular sense, so do or do not does not apply here.

By failing to attain your goal, you succeed in your own mind what you were trying to do. But to everyone else, you have failed, because failure was not the object of the task.

Do you understand? When you do this, you have SUCCEEDED in FAILURE. You've both failed the real goal and succeeded in your own personal goal.

You've failed because you tried to fail.

Like if you fail at being a fry cook in order to get fired and suceed at your job instead, you really failed.

If you are a spy helping out the enemy and you succeed, you failed.

You succeeded! because you accomplished what you set out to do. Now you know that if you want to fail anytime you want all you have to do is follow the same routine and you can always get the same outcome.

Ooooooh, a paradox.
In succeding instead of failing, you have succeded.
In failing and wanting to do so, you have also succeded in what you wanted.
Now, you cannot have both answers, for it is either do or do not, but you did acomplish something whether you wanted to or not.
But trying to fail....what did you not want to do?

You have failed. Succeeding is defined as reaching your goal, and if your goal was to fail, then you have failed.

This question is just messing with connotations.
