To answer your question, the reason most African Americans as you say seem to like r&b and hip hop music so much is because, these two genres of music is the combination of jazz, gospel and blues. All of these types of music originated from the black community. It would only make sense that black people love R & B music and hip hop since we invented it.

Well Sweetie, apparently you know nothing about the R&B and Hip Hop origin. Blacks started Hip Hop and R&B why wouldn't we love the music? R&B and Hip Hop tells a story. Some stories are about relationships, ordeals, love and primarily what we have seen or experienced as a people. Why wouldn't we love Hip Hop and R&B?

Why do most white people like country, jazz and pop instead of hip hop and r&b? I know it's a dumb question. I have no idea what made me ask it..........
But to further answer your question, just about every person I know, be they white, black, latino, italian, french, hindu, WHATEVER, they don't exclusively enjoy 1 or 2 types of music, they enjoy whatever sounds good. My best friend is black and she loves Tori Amos, Snoop Dogg, Kenny Chetney, Madonna, Queen, Pavaratti (sorry about spelling), Green Day, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Toni Braxton. The media tells you most black people like only 2 types of music and you believe it. Do you know most black people? Until you do, don't ask stereotypical, ignorant questions about them.

I don't think that's a good statement. People like music they can relate too.
"Black people" like rap and hip hop because some can relate to it, It's what they know, It's the story of thier lives, But it's the same with Country too.

Why do white people like country, jazz, and pop rather then hip hop, and r&b? Is it cuz that's what the media tells white people they have to like?

That's not true. I'm black. It's were your raised up like in a white neiborhood and they listened to pop so I started to listen to it. If I was born in a black neighborhood I would listen to there' music rap and r&b cause they do it. It's sort of confusing but yeah.I still like r&b but Ilisten and like pop music more. get what i'm trying to say. and please don't sterotype. that's wrong. just don't do it again
