I have scoured the net looking for info on this, but have had no luck. I want to keep one whitetail deer as a pet. Are there any permits that I need to get before I consider buying one from a breeder?

below source link indicates there's restrictions. Deer are not really good pets. They're not always the kind gentle innocent creatures depicted and can indeed be quite aggressive. You will need to provide particular things to get a permit and are NOT allowed to turn the deer loose. Contact the state wildlife department at the 2nd link in sources

Call a veterinarian in your area and ask, they know the laws in your area or where to look for answers.
