Wonderfully inventive...like a memoir with a very strange twist...took an odd idea (tigers in lifeboats) and made it sound very believable. A little gory.

On one level Life of Pi is an adventure story, kid gets trapped on boat with tiger. On another level, it's looking at the three religions Pi experiences early in the book, Hindu, Christianity and Islam. Each can be represented by the dangers Pi faces later on, the tiger, the sea and the algae. While Pi can be killed by any of these, they also provide companionship, discipline and food. Pi manages to survive by striking a balance between his three faiths and personal action.
At the end of the story, we are given a choice whether to believe Pi's tale, (an act of faith) or write it off (atheism).

I read the book a couple of years ago...it is a really good book. I guess I enjoy it even more the second time I read it...very clever. This is a book that would make you think / pause/ think ......I would recommend this book!
note: Was it a tiger? or was it.....? the whole story is not as it seems....a good twist.
