If you look at the sides of the cliffs, you can get an idea of what the area was like through the various geologic eras. Each layer tells its own story. Of course, not everyone is a geologist, but just looking out at this immense space is breathtaking, especially on a clear day.

Also deeply impressive is the knowledge that that tiny river at the bottom was responsible for carrying off all the rock and sand that used to occupy that enormous space, grain by grain. It gives you an idea of eternity.

Well... I expected to see a big hole in the ground when I took my family to see it (it was one of my daughter's dreams to see the Grand Canyon).

What I found is hard to describe. We spent two full days there and two sunsets (which were amazing). I didn't want to leave. Awe inspiring, peace, a sense of something much bigger than my own little world influencing us. I have photos, I have videos, but they don't come close to helping to explain to family and friends what the experience was like.

I hear some folks go there and feel nothing; just see a big hole in the ground. For me it was the highlight of a 3 week cross country trip.

I've been to many places in this world, and there is no vista quite as moving as standing on the edge of the Grand Canyon for the first time. It made me cry it was so awesome. I hope you get to see it sometime!

It was formed by water over millions of years. It shows the power of natural processes. It also can form its own weather. But it's a matter of opinion if you think it is special.

Its huge and beautiful. Makes you realize how small and insignifigant we really are. Its a reminder of how big God really is and how he's capable of doing anything. Its deep, colorful, and amazing to stare at!

It's a REALLY BIG DITCH and it contains thousands of years of fossils. It tells history because of the beds of rock.

Wouldn't you like to excavate into centuries ago? I would... *nods*

It is awesome but mere words don't do it justice. You have to see it for yourself and then you will get it. It will take your breath away.
