These old people in my neighborhood got together and all went to the police and actually got these speed humps put in the road, they are like 3 ft wide and really got people to slow down a lot. Just pestering the local police office about it will probably work, perhaps they will put up a camera or just a local cop to sit there and do paperwork

There are some cute signs reflecting a child playing, that can be set up at the beginning of the street; also, I would contact the local City Hall and ask how they might be able to install speed bumps. Get together with your neighbors, too. More voices are better heard.

Talk to your local police department. Tell them you are willing to sit out there and 'radar' people if you can borrow a radar gun. Document every car and the speed it's travelling. Turn this in to the police and ask them to do something about it. If they don't, contact your city council and see if you can petition for speed bumps or stop signs to be put in.
If all this fails, impede their traffic with 'child at play' signs. From there, drop create 'flyers' that list License plate numbers and the speed they were travelling and distribute them to homes with a note that the police have been contacted. Or use a positive message that says something like "Let's all work to protect our children and animals from speeding" and give some speeding statistics.
Create a speeder's neighborhood watch program. Parents and neighbors take turns 'watching' for speeders and politely asking them to slow down.
Good luck to you!

If it happens at certain times or on certain days you can ask the police to set up a speed trap or check with the city or county about putting in speed bumps

-As a neighborhood group..Make an official Police report. Then keep a record of all the license plates and color and make of the speeding cars. The Police will have to do something about it.

I have advocated for this before on a road I had lived on- I called the local highway dept and ask to be considered for a slow children sign and we got one fairly quickly..if that doesnt work , I've seen families who put out those black cut outs of children or pets that they stategically place in front of the road by the curb, fence - it is amazing how it scares the drivers to slow!! Also keep reporting the cars to your local police dept.- they work closely with the highway dept to find dangerous area that need signs.-good luck...we also live on a busy route and we eventually put up a fence.

Get the city to install speed bumps, or a dip. Get them to put a cop there to give out tickets. Also get them to install a sign that says children at play. We have the same problem where I live.

Speed bumps. Keep your children in your back yard. Spike strips are dangerous to the user with no experience.
