Norton is NOT a good program as it interferes with other programs too much causing the whole computer to slow down.

AVG anti-virus (either free or full version) is a good anti-virus program and will not cause your PC to run slowly. Try it!

"Hugh Jorgen" (above) has got a good point about using Spybot S&D (great program) to back up AVG, so your PC is free of spyware also.

There is no "Best" anti virus program. Some of the better ones are Avast, AVG Panda,Norton Trend Micro, Ewido and MacAfee. These are not given in any particular order

The "best" anti virus program (for the most part) is a personal opinion. Although you can check the computer magazine's websites for their reviews of anti virus programs....

Personally we use AVAST, not only do we think it is the "best" but it's FREE!

They update it almost daily, unlike most other anti virus programs who updates weekly.

The website link follows...

Also, many ISPs now provide FREE anti virus software for their subscribers, such as AOL, COMCAST, etc.... Check with your ISP to see if they do as well.

The best anti-virus is a hardware antivirus. it's not free, but it will be almost unpenitrable.i don't know of any brands either. you can probably look it up. really the best thing you can do to protect your computer if you can't afford a hardware anitvirus is get a little 8 gig hard drive, and install mandrake linux operating system on it. only use linux when you get online and you should be fine.

Avast anti-virus is effective and it's free. It auto upgrades to keep up with the current threats. Try backing it up with Ad-AwareSE and Spybot, both free, and you should be secure for no money.

Kasersky Antivirus (known as AVP), Symantec's Norton Antivirus (for fast computers), Avg.... Each antivirus is good if you keep its database up to date and scan frequently your pc! The less system resources it consumes and the faster the scanning procesdure is implemented the more better the antivirus is!
