Sweetie, I live in MD and I went GA a couple of years ago to see my sister have her baby and the care they gave her while she was in labor was ridiculous. When her water broke they gave her a epideral to help with the contractions and pain and even though the doctor said it himself that her cervix was open far enough for her to go ahead and deliver they left her drugged up for so long almost two days at this point that she was unable to push or do pretty much anything that they ended up having to do a C-section. My sister was healthy no problems during the 9 mnths and the baby came out fine there was no special situation that required them to do that at all.
I think you should take your Medical records and look for another doctor. Ask family or friends and see who they would recommend to help you through the rest of your pregnancy. My sister's was fine up untill the delivery but her regular doctor didn't do her delivery part and that may be why her actual delivery was complicated. Now, she has two kids and she said her second pregnancy and delivery went smooth but they had to do a C- section because they said it would be safer.

This is so much like what i have been going through that it's not funny. I have medicaid though, and i have had several complications in my pregnancy. I started having contractions every 10 minutes when i turned 33 weeks, and was put on bed rest and Brethin (used to help stop pre-term labor) until i was 36 weeks. At 37 weeks i went to the doc to find that I was 2 CM and I had already lost ,my mucus plug. I am planning on having another c-section, and mt doc said that they will go ahead and do the c-section as soon as I am 3 CM. I am 38 weeks now, and still 2 CM, with contractions every 5 minutes. My doc says that the contractions are real, they just aren't strong enough to make me dialate. So I am extremely uncomfortable, and really there is nothing that they can do, luckily i am scheduled for a c-section next Tuesday. But your contractions could be very real just not strong enough to do anything. Good luck, and let me know what your doc says, i too go to the doc tomorrow!

OMG. I'm so sorry that you are going through all that crap. I don't know too much about placenta previa so I don't know how much help I can be. Premature contractions are a symptom of it though. Not sure if any of those "fine" doctors bothered to mention that to you. The good news is that you hit your 35 week mark, most of the concern is for early labor before 35 weeks. If your cervix isn't dilated at all yet then you sound like you are still doing pretty well. Placenta previa should not prevent dilation of the cervix at all. Generally it just doesn't happen because a c-section is scheduled before labor occurs. As hard as it is, try to stay positive, it is the best thing you can do for you and your baby right now. Good luck.

I'm also a new transplant to Georgia (from Michigan) and I can say from personal experience, it's not only Georgia who has crappy medical care. (I've also lived in Virginia, Ohio, Georgia [when I was a child] and Texas, and believe me, they're bad everywhere! Although my two sons were born in Michigan, and I couldn't have asked for a better hospital/doctors.) That being said, what hospital are you going to? Not sure where in GA you live, but if it's in the metro-Atlanta area, I would STRONGLY suggest you stay as far the hell away from Grady Memorial as you can. It's a hospital mainly for inner-city residents and indigents. If you can, go to Emory University Hospital. It's a teaching hospital and all the care I've had there (when I lived here before as a child) was excellent.
I can sort of see why the resident would ask you if you had had sex...I'm sure it's mainly questions they HAVE to ask to rule out certain causes for early labor. Even though I'm sure you're intelligent enough to abstain because of your placenta previa, not all people are... As to asking why you're there, I'm sure he wanted specifics. (I know you're here because you're pregnant and having problems, but what exact problems are you having?)
As to your contractions...they're different for all women depending upon the woman's tolerance for pain. I have a pretty strong tolerance for pain (I've broken bones, had major surgeries a few times, etc.) but mine were crippling. The way I describe it to people who ask is, imagine having the worst menstrual cramps you've ever had, and multiply the pain of that by about 100. That, on top of your uterus contracting and getting rock hard. And, if you've ever had stomach flu or food poisoning, you know the crampy, painful diarrhea cramps you can get in your lower intestines? Add that on top of everything else. My contracts were so strong and painful, I was actually not breathing during them. I would tense up and hold my breath until they passed. My husband had to remind me several times to breathe. :) I finally asked for my epidural, and it was smooth sailing from there. This was with my first pregnancy.
With my second one, he was an emergency c-section, and so like your twins, I didn't have any contractions or anything. Although I did know what they felt like from my first pregnancy...not a feeling I care to relive any time in the near future.

sex releases certain hormones that can trigger labor. I think you are going thru normal gitters just wait until the due date, I'd go in many times thinking i was in labor and then go back home. I think you need to extablish because my hospital was so far I had to do ten min apart for contractions and this made me go to hospital more frequently for false alarms however you can wait until contractions are probalby five min apart then call it. Read up on it and on Braxton Hicks contractions.
During the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, you may notice episodes when your belly tightens and becomes firm to the touch, then relaxes. These are episodes of tightening (contraction) of the uterine muscles called Braxton Hicks contractions. These normal contractions may be hardly noticeable or may be strong enough to make you stop what you are doing.
Considered "warm-up" exercises for the uterus, Braxton Hicks contractions can begin as early as the 20th week of pregnancy, although most often they start between the 28th and 30th week.
Braxton Hicks contractions are usually infrequent in midpregnancy. However, they can be more frequent during the ninth month, sometimes occurring as often as every 10 to 20 minutes.1 Braxton Hicks contractions usually occur less than 4 to 6 times per hour.
Braxton Hicks contractions:
Usually disappear during exercise or activity (unlike true labor pains, which continue or increase if you move around).
Are more noticeable during rest.
It may be difficult to tell the difference between Braxton Hicks contractions and true labor. If there is any doubt, consult your health professional

Ok. With my last baby I was getting contractions every 5 minutes and I didn't know if they were real or not so I called my mid-wife and she told me to change my activity and if they went a way it wasn't true labor. Basically I was up walking around( I was at work) and she told me to go home and lay down. I went home and laid down and they went away. You're gonna be having a lot of fake or what they call braxton hicks contractions right around now and it is hard to tell the difference. Good Luck.

Well, I do not have one among my possess; thank God all my exertions and deliveries had been high-quality - painful on the grounds that I had they all average - however high-quality. However, we did have a scare simply a few weeks in the past whilst my grand daughter gave delivery to her first child. She was once in exertions and closer to the tip they misplaced the child's heartbeat and did an emergency C-phase. The child had the twine wrapped round her neck. All is high-quality although. She's a truly cutie. I do have a humorous tale although - whilst my final baby was once born I was once 39. It was once my handiest boy. I are living in Arizona and the temperature in May, June and July are horrible. Estevan was once now not due till August however I might not stand it and on July twenty seventh I sat looking TV at approximately 6 pm and I drank a few caster oil. They say that precipitates contractions. I did not understand how so much to drink, so I drank the entire bottle, bit by bit. At 10 I had the runs, however all for the period of the night time I had little contractions now not unhealthy in any respect, like with my different kids. I received up took a bath and went to the sanatorium. Sure sufficient I was once already 6 cm dialated without a truly soreness. The midwife informed me she'd meet me on the health facility inside the hour. Well, I needed to move get up my children and husband, get them showered, dressed and fed, percent a bag, select up movie for the digital camera, so I did not exhibit up on the health facility till approximately two:00. The Midwife was once frantic. I simply stored having small pains. Well, I was once eight cm whilst I received there. And the trials persevered that approach till approximately three:30 whilst I began having a few predominant ones, however handiest approximately 12 of them, on the grounds that Estevan slid out. He got here out pooping and pooped in all places the midwifes sneakers. I gave her a reward certificates for her to shop for herself a different pair. He was once the one one among my children that didn't have cholic. I wager the cleansing earlier than delivery helped.

You have a right to ask for help from a different doctor if you are unsatisfied with the answers you are getting. Because you are having some complications(the pervia?) you should seek new attention asap. If your contractions are not constant then they may be the braxton hix kind. Good luck and I hope you find a good doc soon.
