Waco considers itself to be the heart of Texas, located halfway between Dallas and Austin on Interstate 35. The city, which is the home to Baylor University, has a nearby racetrack called Heart of Texas Speedway and a major credit union is called Heart of Texas. The heart of any true Texan would probably be San Antonio, however, because this is the cradle of liberty for the Lone Star State, and the place where the struggle for Texas Independence ignited with the fall of the Alamo.

It doesn't refer to a town of that name. It refers to a general area of the state. Look at a map of Texas........see where Dallas/Ft. Worth is located. (It is about where the heart would be located in the chest cavity.) That whole general area is referred to as the Heart of Texas. There are really no lined boundaries to this referenced area

It's not Dallas, San Antonio, Houston or Austin. I'm in Austin: we're the Live Music Capital of the World. So I'm with the guy who said Waco.

It can't be Dallas. Dallas is like Manhattan NY. I don't believe it is Houston. Houston is military like. I believe NASA was there before it ended up in Florida. San Antonio is more like a tourist area. Its got to be somewhere in the middle of texas. Sorry I can't give an exact city

There is not such a town but a region coinciding with the central part of Texas. Cities in that region are Waco, etc.
